Static: No built-in airflow; relies on room air. Suited to lower classes (≈ISO 7–8) where an interlocked, cleanable pass-through is enough. Lowest cleanliness.
Semi-Active: Uses building air with added HEPA/ULPA; cleanliness and suitability depend on your room spec. Moderate installation (ducted supply needed). Pick if you already have HVAC capacity to the box and need some filtration.
Active: Self-contained FFU with HEPA/ULPA and overpressure; no external infrastructure. Good for ISO 6–7 targets and when you can’t (or don’t want to) connect to HVAC. High cleanliness with simple–moderate install.
Dynamic: Self-contained with integrated fan and HEPA; highest cleanliness (≈ISO 5–7) and most flexible placement; best when items may dwell longer and you need a stable, independent clean zone.
